WHAT

In the development of this project, design was conceived as a strategic element of the company identity. Starting from this concept Pininfarina imagined a yacht that would stand out for its lines and its introspective stylistic research, extending the Primatist Aerotop range.

 

Pininfarina introduced numerous innovative solutions on this new model, from a unique layout to an eco-compatible construction; it also carried out detailed tests in the Wind Tunnel to raise the level of passenger comfort even higher. Another plus point is the way space is exploited, giving the owner and his guests the feeling of having a conceptually unique space, and creating a harmonious line from prow to stern.

 

The Primatist B62’ was a great success when it debuted at the 2011 Primatist Trophy in Sardinia.

HOW

The B62’ Pininfarina is 18.9 metres long, with a classic deep V-shaped hull which optimises the efficiency of the two possible engine-transmission units: the Primatist Tunnel System combined with shafting lines or the 1350 Hp Volvo IPS3 with tractor propellers.

Analysis of the overall layout and the volumes reveals the Primatist ‘family feeling’, with the classic stern inclined towards the inside to increase the dynamism of the hull, together with a particular design of the prow, which maximises comfort and the perception of space in the VIP cabin, improving the comfort and safety of mooring operations on deck, which becomes a distinctive feature of this project.

Roominess and comfort are fundamental concepts together with those of safety, efficiency and cruising performance. Light is a natural element, and the common denominator with the external living area: the dinette is covered by the retractable AeroTop hardtop and its link with the outdoor area is modulated by a sliding glass door, which separates the lounge area from the sun deck.

The elegance of the shapes and the excellence of the materials are reflected in full in the interior; there are three cabins and three large bathrooms, two of which en suite. The master cabin occupies the entire stern area, while the VIP cabin is in the prow, lit naturally by the light that floods through the large windows, a common denominator throughout the yacht.

WHY

Half a century of history


The Pininfarina company has been active in the nautical field since the Sixties, working on a large number of projects, from “one-offs” for HH the Aga Khan and Gianni Agnelli, right down to activities related to the design of upper work and interiors for yachts and motorboats for Azimut, Delta, Fr. Lürssen Werft, Intermarine, Italcraft, Magnum Marine, Souther, Bénéteau and Fincantieri that were built in limited and larger production runs.

 

In 2004 Pininfarina signed an agreement with Primatist by Bruno Abbate that involved the research and styling divisions of both companies. The creativeness and experience of the Abbate family and its closest collaborators on one hand, and the technology and creative potential of the working group managed and coordinated by Paolo Pininfarina, Chairman of Pininfarina SpA on the other.

The collaboration between Pininfarina and this leading upmarket Motor Yacht shipyard has produced a range of successful Aerotop boats, which was inaugurated by the innovative G70’ Pininfarina in 2005, the most important yacht in Primatist history, followed by its natural heir in 2006, the G 46’ Pininfarina express cruiser, and the G53’ Pininfarina in 2008, which reflects the styling and conception of the previous models.

WHO

The Primatist B62’ Pininfarina is the fruit of exceptional teamwork, begun by Bruno and continued by Marco Abbate, which brought together the Primatist shipyard in Grandola on Lake Como, the technology centre of Arbatax and Pininfarina Extra, involving an outstanding research and development staff. The ‘B’ in the name appears for the first time as a tribute to Bruno Abbate and will identify all the new models.
